چکیده
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) consist of a group over 100 different organic compounds mainly generated by anthropogenic activities. Because their low water solubility, they tend to be accumulated in sediment, where degradation rate is very low. Few studies have been carried out so far investigate the effects PAHs on Artemia franciscana. easy manage at laboratory scale, but it not sensitive biological model considering traditional endpoints (i.e., mortality). In addition evaluating lethality nauplii and adults A. franciscana after 24 48 h, we focused genotoxicity potential phenanthrene (PHE), naphthalene (NAP), fluoranthene (FLT), benzo(k)fluoranthene (BkF). Results showed that FLT was most toxic both for h exposure. Real-time qPCR all toxicants, including BkF, which had no negative survival crustacean, were able switch gene expression nine genes. This work has important ecological implications, especially contaminated sediment assessment represent abundant marine environment, opening new perspectives understanding molecular pathways activated crustaceans.

متن کاملProtective efficacy of the antioxidants vitamin E and Trolox against Microcystis aeruginosa and microcystin-LR in Artemia franciscana nauplii.
This study was undertaken to evaluate the protective efficacy of the antioxidants vitamin E and Trolox (a water-soluble vitamin E derivative) against the toxicity of microcystin-LR (MC-LR), Microcystis aeruginosa aqueous extract (CE), and a reference toxin, menadione sodium bisulfite (MSB), in Artemia franciscana nauplii. This was achieved by using the well-established brine shrimp bioassay. Th...
متن کاملAlternative Biotest on Artemia franciscana
Recent toxicology, in accordance with recommendations from the European Council, has demanded decrease in the number of vertebrates used in toxicology testing and their partial replacement with invertebrate animals, plants or even organ, tissue, or cell cultures. During the last 50 years various invertebrate species have been tested for their sensitivity to many chemical or physical agents to p...
متن کاملGrowth, survival and stress resistance of Tiger Barb (Puntius tetrazona) larvae fed on linseed oil-enriched Artemia franciscana nauplii
Effect of feeding on linseed oil (LO)-enriched Artemia was investigated on growth, survival and stress resistance of tiger barb (Puntius tetrazona) larvae. Larvae were fed by LO-enriched (2.5, 5 and 7.5 %) as well as non-enriched Artemia nauplii for 14 d, followed by 14 d feeding on non-enriched Artemia. Fish fed on enriched nauplii showed significant increase in growth performance at both 14th...
متن کاملSalt Effects on Eggs and Nauplii of Artemia Salina L
Eggs of Artemia salina L., the brine shrimp, are easily obtainable in large quantities. Ecdysis takes place in two stages: (a) extrusion of the inner membrane, and (b) ecdysis of the nauplius from that membrane. The conditions which allow for the former are much more varied than those for the latter. Nauplii form in only solutions of a few sodium salts; and, in Mg, Ca, and Sr salts, potassium i...
